Liposuction. What is it?

Liposuction is a surgical procedure that involves the removal of excess fat from the body using a hollow stainless steel tube, called a cannula, which is inserted through small incisions in the skin. The procedure is typically performed under general anesthesia and can be used to remove fat from various areas of the body, including the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, arms, and neck.

During the procedure, the surgeon will make small incisions in the treatment area and insert the cannula through the incisions. The cannula is then used to suction out excess fat using a high-pressure vacuum. The fat is removed through a process called aspiration, which involves the use of a syringe or other suction device to extract the fat from the body.

Liposuction can be an effective way to contour and reshape the body by removing stubborn pockets of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. It can also be used to improve the appearance of cellulite and to tighten and tone the skin. However, it is important to note that liposuction is not a weight loss procedure and is not intended to be used as a substitute for a healthy diet and regular exercise.
